Train Adults in Safeguarding Practices
וְהַחוּט הַמְשֻׁלָּשׁ לֹא בִמְהֵרָה יִנָּתֵק
The threefold cord will not quickly be broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
We learn from Ecclesiastes “the threefold cord will not quickly be broken.” When more adults in a community understand how to safeguard youth, more members of that community are able to uphold agreed-upon safeguarding norms and model safe behavior as a united front. While each educated individual is one critical thread in achieving this goal, the ripple effect of intentional community-wide adult education regarding youth maltreatment creates a tightly knit cord. This Best Practice will help you expand your circle of community members who are educated about maltreatment and proper safeguarding protocols.
Identify who needs training and what types of training they need, and make a plan for delivering it.
